BLESSINGS, ABUNDANT BLESSINGS
Elder Louis Culver
In this life we have so many blessings that we cannot number them. If we are having difficulty going to sleep at night, just start counting our blessings. Before we are aware of it, we will be waking up in the morning. We will not remember when we went to sleep and we will not remember how many blessings we counted the night before, but of one thing we may be sure: we will never count all our blessing.
Even in the times of great distress and uncertainty we know that God is ever-present. He is there to guide and protect us. He never leaves nor forsakes us. He is our help in time of need.
I have been so well blessed numerous times during my life. I have been blessed to be a member of the Church for 50 years this March 1. In many ways it does not seem to have been that long. They have been good years, filled with many blessings. To know that God is on our side is a great, and maybe the greatest, blessing of all. He is indeed our friend.
Recently I was blessed to be able to baptize one of our granddaughters. Emily, the seven-year-old daughter of Steve and Melanie (Culver) Cornett, joined Five Mile Primitive Baptist Church at Akron, Alabama, and requested that I baptize her. Of course I was delighted to be able to do so. This was another of life’s blessings.
Another blessing is that we have the church here in the world, a place of refuge and comfort. We can turn to the church in every time of need and find comfort and consolation, peace and joy.
It should never be a burden to go to church. It ought to be a great joy to be able to meet with and fellowship with the saints of God. To do so is one of life’s wonderful blessings. To dwell among the saints, the children of God, affords us the opportunity of sharing the many joys and blessings that the church affords us today. There is comfort and rest for the souls of God. These are our blessings, our abundant blessings.
