THE VALUE OF SINGING
A brave little girl was taken to a doctor for a minor, but for the moment a painful, operation. "This will hurt, but you may cry or scream as much as you please."
The little girl looked up at him, smiling, and said, "I would rather sing," which she did with her sweet, childish voice and went through her brief ordeal without sigh, groan or tear.
It would be great gain if Christians would learn to sing in hard days. In Bible times and through the Christian centuries, singing has been an important feature of noble living. It is beautiful to be Christian enough to sing, especially when the heart is heavy. When hard things come and sorrows press, we can change all by prayer and song of praise to God.
