LAURA NEAL MILES, 1921 - 2007
Sister Laura Neal Miles departed this life April 19, 2007, at her home in Gardendale, Alabama. She was 85 years of age.
Sister Miles was born in Nettleton, Mississippi, on October 12, 1921. Her mother was Susie Pennington Neal and her father was Charlie H. Neal.
Sister Miles joined the church when she was a young lady. On July 1, 1950, she married U. G. Miles and in 1951 they moved from Mississippi to the Birmingham, Alabama area. They were blessed with four daughters. Her husband passed away November 22, 1998.
Sister Miles was faithful to attend church all of her life. She has visited us here at Liberty for many years. We felt so blessed when she came forward and asked for a home with us on December 17, 2006. She was gladly received by letter from New Hope Church in Amory, Mississippi.
Funeral services for Sister Miles were at two p.m. on Sunday, April 22, at Bell Forestdale Chapel, with burial in Crestview Memorial Gardens. Her funeral was conducted by her pastor, Elder Roger Miller, and by Elder Ernie Stump.
Sister Miles is survived by her daughters and their husbands: Mitzi and Danny Goolsby of Jasper, Mimi and Lincoln Hand of Gardendale, Melissa and Micky Black of Crestwood, Myra and Jeff Wallace of Hoover, as well as four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
We at Liberty Church shall long remember this dear sister for her devotion to the church, her sweet disposition, and her ready smile. We are thankful that we were blessed to know and love her.
This memorial written with love by the church-appointed committee: Sisters Ruth Bond, Opal Smith, and Lucy Allums.
