Hebrews 11:38a: "Of whom the world was not worthy"
Have you ever noticed how people react around the rich and famous? Have you ever noticed how people fall all over themselves for someone deemed important by the world? What great lengths, what time and effort is wasted on those that we think may care about us or help to promote a desired career.
Well, what do we think of athletes, musicians, movie stars, and even the President of the United States? I consider these people blessed of God with great talents. The average individual could not do what the diligent and trained athlete and musician do on a daily basis. Even the person who has devoted his life to painting or drawing can certainly produce a work of art that baffles and inspires the mind.
However great these men and their accomplishments are, they are not worthy of the "god-like" status and praise that is so freely lavished upon them by the world. Take a man less noticeable, less outspoken, and less influential and very few will notice him. Those that do may ever view him as abnormal or weird. Yet the Bible, The Word of God, says of a man like this that the world is truly not worthy of his presence.
On October 4, 2007 the world lost a great man among men. He was not as influential as those on television but he was nonetheless an influence. If you could pause long enough you would observe a QUIET MAN who was not interested in making a name for himself but in making your day just a little bit better. He was a SIMPLE MAN; never flashy, never showy. His was not the pursuit of abundance of wealth but of the abundance of friends. He was an HONEST MAN; never mean, never cruel. He never tried to cheat you nor be better nor have more than you. And he would have given you all he had if he could. Being as he was, he was taken advantage of by some; taken for granted by others.
The world would be a better place if there were more people like Mr. John Seynous White (September 26, 1940 - October 4, 2007). He will be deeply missed by those who took time to notice this gracious, loving soul who was faithful to attend Grants Mill Primitive Baptist Church.
