WHAT YE SOW YE SHALL ALSO REAP
Elder Louis Culver
"It is absurd to sow little but weeds in the first half of one's lifetime and expect to harvest a valuable crop in the second half."
This says we should sow good things in our youth if we expect to reap great things in old age. It is possible to live an immoral, unprofitable life for years. It is what many of our youth do today. It is not what the Lord requires of us.
Malachi 6:8 "He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?" If we do these three things we are not likely to be entangled with evils of the world.
We are to "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6. Habits formed in youth are apt to stay through life. A godly basis for life in our youth will most likely continue so long as we live.
If we go our way, we risk the judgment of God. Eclesiastes 11:9 "Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment." If our ways are not pleasing to God, He will bring us into judgment. Hebrews 10:31 "It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." Let us be mindful of the consequences of our actions. Galatians 6:7 "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."
