TO BE CONTINUED...

Elder Louis Culver

"To be continued..." is often at the end of articles in this publication. It is an indication that something else is to follow at some later time. Conversely, it means that the article is not complete as it appears at present.

In life there are many things which are not yet complete. We speak of "continuing education" as something being undertaken by certain students. The truth is, we are all continuing our education. When we cease learning we cease living. No one ever "knows it all" nor can we expect to do so.

We frequently hear people say, "I sure do wish this could last forever" when they are enjoying some activity. In reality they are saying that they want the activity "to be continued...." We would become bored rather quickly if the same thing were to continue uninterrupted forever.

We need a variety of activities in order that we not become disenchanted with any one activity. Hence, we need to have some activities "to be continued...."

God's love for His people is never-ending. It is always "to be continued...." We do not want His love to cease, but we want Him to continue showing His love toward us. We want it "to be continued..." forever and ever.

So long as we sojourn here in this world, we want the blessings of God to continue with us. A very wonderful blessing in our life is for God to be an active part of our life. We want His activity with us "to be continued...."

When the preacher, blessed of God, speaks to a congregation, he wants to tell all that he can about the love and mercy, grace and peace of God. He wants to share everything possible with the children of God and he wants to leave nothing untold. Sometimes it seems that he is so filled with the Spirit of God that he must tell everything in the present discourse. However, he must realize that sometimes it is "to be continued...."

The Bible says, "Let brotherly love continue." -Hebrews 13:1.
