GOD, JESUS CHRIST, THE SAVIOUR OF SINNERS!

Elder Coy Brothers

There are many Bible characters who are written about in the 1611 or King James Version of the Bible. There is only one who is sinless and the Saviour of poor sinners, and that character is our Lord, Jesus Christ. There would not be a thing wrong with writing about the many (characters) people referenced even in chapter 11 of Hebrews: that is, the "faith chapter." There are many very faithful men and women of the Bible who are named in Hebrews chapter 11, very worthy of our time and effort to write about.

Then there are the forty men who were inspired of God to pen down the sixty-six books of the Bible who are worthy to write about. There are all of the prophets of the Old Testament who are worthy to write about. There are the twelve sons of Jacob, the twelve apostles, all of the men and women Jesus used and named in the New Testament during His 33 1/2 years of time upon His earth, about whom we could write!

The Most Important Character Of the Bible, The Character Of Jesus Christ, The Saviour!

I hope by now you have been blessed of your God, my God and the God of all His people, to get the point concerning those we will spend our time and thoughts in meditation thereof! Not just Jesus as a man, but Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, the only Saviour of sinners, the only name whereby we must be saved! Acts 4:12, "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Let us pray now for His Holy Spirit to be showered down upon us that we together might praise and glorify His holy and matchless name! The name of JESUS: He is 100% man, [without sin] and He is also God! If we are able by His grace and mercy to see Jesus and Him above every other character in this world, past, present and future, we will have been blessed above measure, or beyond anything of this world.

To begin our efforts, we must be presently led by the Spirit of God to dwell upon Spiritual things. Otherwise our human or our sin-nature will manifest itself above our Spiritual nature. We understand that if we are born again as Jesus teaches in the 3rd chapter of John, that we now have two natures within us, the natural and the Spiritual! We have one nature that we hope will be manifested at this time, that is, if we have been born again! That is the only way we can praise and glorify our Saviour Jesus Christ! We need the manifested Spirit of God leading our hearts and minds to heavenly things and away from the things of this natural world. Thanks be to His Holy and matchless name! In beginning now to get down to the Bible character we would love to address above all of the other good people of God, that is, Jesus Christ! How do we begin to describe the man, Jesus Christ? We will begin with His birth and why He came into this world to live and die 33 1/2 years later. In Matthew 1:21, Joseph was told in a dream by an angel these words, "And she (Mary) shall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins." Another thing this angel told Joseph about this forthcoming Christ Child was in the 23rd verse of Matthew chapter 1, "Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us." Therefore the virgin Mary conceived of the Holy Ghost and she brought forth her first born and this Son was Jesus Christ, who was 100% man (without sin) and 100% God. No! We do not completely understand that statement, but we believe it by faith!

Let us jump ahead a little, to see if Jesus has the power to do what the Father has given Him to accomplish or finish while He is here upon earth, these few years! Let us see Matthew 28:18, "And Jesus came and spake unto them saying, All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth." Also see Matthew 11:27, "All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save (except) the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal Him."

The Character of Jesus Christ

What do we know the best about or the most about any earthy character? Would it not be by what he does, while he lives here upon earth? If a man was a great welder, then maybe we could see some of the great structures that he had welded. If he was a stonecutter, we may see some of his great works of or cut out of stone! If a man was very rich, we might see what he did with some of his great wealth! If he was just a poor common man of whom we had never heard, if he was born of the Spirit of God, He will be in heaven just like all of the rest of the children born of the Spirit of God.

Now back to the only name, the only character in heaven or earth whereby we must be saved! Let us look at God in the beginning of His book, the Bible, that is, in His creation of the words). How do we believe that God spoke this world into existence? By faith, we believe the word of God, we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God. Hebrews 11:3, "Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the WORD of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear." Therefore we believe in the creation story, by the God of heaven and earth. Did God finish what He started in the six days or not? See Genesis 1:31 and 2:1-2, "And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good, and the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Thus the heavens and the earth WERE FINISHED, and all the host of them, and on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made: and he rested on the seventh day from all His work He had made." Remember God is able and does finish what He starts, because He has all power in heaven and in earth, ref. Matthew 28:18.

Let us examine a little more about the character of GOD. See Deuteronomy 4:23 and 24. "Take heed unto yourselves; lest ye forget the covenant of the Lord God, which He made with you, and make you a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, which the Lord thy God hath forbidden thee. For the Lord thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God." The Lord God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit will finish His work, as Solomon of 1st Kings 9:25 did his! "And three times in a year did Solomon offer burnt offerings and peace offerings upon the altar which he built unto the Lord, and he burnt incense upon the altar that was before the Lord. So he finished the house."

Did Jesus finish the work or purpose that God the Father sent Him upon earth to finish? I believe He did! Do you? See John 4:34, "Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of Him that sent Me, and to finish His work." Now, see John 5:36, "But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given Me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me." Yes, I believe what Jesus said, and that He did the works that the Father sent Him here upon earth to do. I suppose the question may be, just what did God send His Son here upon earth to finish? Was it not to die upon the cross to save His people? Listen to the very words of Jesus again, in John 17:4, "I have glorified thee (the Father) on the earth: I have finished the work which Thou gaveth me to do. You say, has Jesus actually died upon the cross for the ones the Father gave to Him before the foundation of the world, at the time of the writing of this 17th chapter of John? No, He has not, but it was just before He died upon the cross. Jesus can speak before He does something and it is just as well as done, because He has all power in heaven and earth, and He cannot lie. Jesus is still doing every thing that the Father requests for Him to do upon earth, although He has gone back to heaven to be with God the Father and the angels.

"It Is Finished"

As Jesus spent His last moments upon the old rugged cross, He said, "IT IS FINISHED," as recorded in John 19:30, "When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, He said, It is finished, and He bowed His head, and gave up the ghost."

Our Faith in the Finisher Jesus

The most important part of a building is the finish. Therefore look at Hebrews 12:2, "LOOKING UNTO JESUS THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF OUR FAITH: Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down on the right hand of the throne of God."

Dear reader, we will try to finish this effort by quoting a few verses from Rev. 10:5-7, "And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, and sware by Him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer [the end of time]: But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when He shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to His servants the prophets."

I hope you have gotten a blessing from this writing; if so, give God all of the credit, and when you go to the throne of grace, please pray for this poor servant.
